Baby Care

Our skin is constantly being bombarded with pollutants and irritants from the environment around us that is why Natracare has avoided using any irritating additives; colours and perfumes in its baby care toiletries - just gentle care for delicate skin. Mums and Dads want to give their babies the best and so more and more parents are choosing to feed their babies and children organic food. They are also looking closer at the ingredients used in the products they apply to their children’s skin as well as their own. Many popular brands, widely available for use on baby skins contain harsh foaming agents like SLS, as well as synthetic preservatives such as phenoxyethanol and the Parabens, recently flagged up as a concern in a study carried out in the UK, on parabens in breast tissue. Parabens, including methyl, propyl, butyl and ethyl paraben, are just one of a large group of toxic chemicals that no-one has any idea about what the long term effects are likely to be if they are used every day on human skin. There are a whole range of chemicals widely used in toiletries and wipes about which we need to ask the question, shouldn’t we be more cautious about using products that contain such chemicals? Toiletries designed to be used on babies and people with sensitive skin should not only exclude the chemicals listed above, but also actively avoid propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol (PEG), Isopropyl myristate, and formaldehyde releasing preservatives such as imidazolidinyl urea. All natracare baby care toiletries are free from harsh chemical detergents such as SLS, petroleum, mineral oil, parabens and synthetic preservatives and are made from organic plant-based ingredients. They are so mild; they are ideal for delicate skin because all of our products are made from the purest organically grown essential oils such as lavender, geranium and mandarin, as well as the plant oils of hemp, sesame and sunflower, and aloe vera and jojoba. We do not use sodium lauryl sulphate or any of its close relatives in Natracare bath or shampoo to make it foam and lather. Instead, we use an amphoteric ingredient, with a long name, derived from rapeseed, that is approved by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

As you may know, enzymes are the essential building blocks of life. They are key to the body’s ability to properly digest and benefit from the food we eat, and they provide the energy we use to rebuild muscles, cells, nerves, tissue, bone, and glands. As such, these enzymes spark the chemical reactions responsible for breathing, digestion, growth, reproduction, and most other body functions. Dr. Max Wolf, M.D., who researched enzymes and hormones at Columbia University from the 1930's through the 1960's, determined that enzyme production diminishes in humans after age 27. While humans have historically supplemented their enzyme levels by consuming fresh, raw foods, modern preservation and preparation techniques often destroy the enzymes these foods contain. Combined, these conditions create an enzyme deficiency that causes our bodies and normal body functions to break down. What does this mean? It means we must supplement our diets with systemic enzymes – those that offer system-wide benefits – just as we supplement the vitamins, minerals, and herbs that are essential for good health.Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts, speeding the rate at which biochemical reactions proceed but not altering the direction or nature of the reactions. Enzymes are found in every cell of every living plant and animal, including humans. As biocatalysts, they either begin a reaction or cause a reaction to speed up. Without enzymes, life would not exist.Enzymes work by virtue of their shape. An enzyme molecule can be compared, in shape at least, to many short strings of pearls (amino acids) strung together. This long string folds in on itself as certain sequences of amino acids are more attracted to each other than to other sequences, thus giving the enzymes a

Frequently Asked Questions What are enzymes? Enzymes are found in every cell of every living plant and animal, including humans. Enzymes are biocatalysts; which means that they either begin a reaction or cause a reaction to speed up. Without enzymes life would not exist. How do enzymes work? Enzymes work by virtue of their shape. An enzyme molecule can be compared, in shape at least, to many short strings of pearls (amino acids) strung together. This long string folds in on itself as certain sequences of amino acids (pearls) are more attracted to each other than to other sequences, thus giving the enzymes a specific shape. At one point on the surface of this string of pearls there exists something, which looks like a keyhole. This is called the 'active site' on the enzyme. When matched with its specific coenzyme (a vitamin, mineral, or trace element) this 'lock' has the exact inverse contour of the 'key' which is contained in the molecule of the enzyme's 'substrate' (the molecule that the enzyme wants to transform into a different molecule). When the substrate appears, it inserts the 'key' into the 'lock.' The molecular structure of the substrate is transformed into a different molecular structure and both enzyme and the newly transformed molecule go on their merry ways. What is a digestive enzyme? A digestive enzyme breaks down the proteins, fats and carbohydrates in food during the digestive process allowing the body to better utilize the food you eat. What is a proteolytic enzyme? The proteolytic enzyme digests protein. Some examples of proteolytic enzymes are protease, serrapeptase, bromelain, and papain. What is a lipase enzyme? Lipase enzymes digest fat. What is an amylase enzyme? Amylase enzymes digest carbohydrates. What is systemic enzyme therapy? Systemic enzyme therapy is utilizing enzyme supplementation to increase the enzymes throughout your body to assist in restoring the body to healthWhat else are enzymes used for? Enzymes are widely used in the food industry. Enzymes are also essential in the manufacture of beer. Are enzymes considered 'anti-inflammatory drugs'? Proteolytic Enzymes are considered anti-inflammatory agents. What is the recommended dosage of Vit?lzym? The recommended dosage to be taken at least 45 minutes prior to or after meals is 3 capsules, once a day. However, since each individual is different, a higher or lower dosage may be appropriate for each individual. It is important to understand each person's 'activation' dosage. See the information from Dr. Wong on the activation dosage. How long before the Vit?lzym takes effect? It may depend on the individual's physiological make-up. Everyone is different. Testimonials from some of our customers reported positive effects ranging from 3 days to 2 weeks. Taking the right activation dosage is critical to the success of the product. What claims do you make about the effectiveness of Vit?lzym? The FDA does not allow the nutraceutical industry to make claims about their products
