Generally, life is full of stress. It can emanate from any number of situations that can develop in daily life which can cause worry, anger, frustration, desperation, etc. and result ultimately in stress.
And if left unchecked, stress can build up over a period of time and cause health psychological and problems.
So how does one avoid stress ? One way is to avoid getting into stressful situations. But this may not always be possible as you would have to address various problems that crop up in your life.
If stress is inevitable, we have to find some means to get rid of it before it causes harm. And the best way to do this is to relax and recover through meditation.
So, what is meditation ?
To explain it simply, it involves relaxing your body, quieting your mind entirely using various simple techniques.
Meditation has been around for centuries, and a lot of people practice it all over the world to get relief from tension and stress.
To meditate, you have to sit in a relaxed position and clear your mind. You will be required to focus on a sound, like “ooommm,” or on your own breathing, or on nothing at all.
You need to practice meditation in a place where you can have privacy and silence. It should also be distraction free. You would need anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes for each session.
Those who practice meditation claim that it produces many health benefits. While practicing meditation, the breathing and heart rate slow down, the blood pressure normalizes and oxygen is used more efficiently. The mind clears up and your immune system improves and you become more creative. So, you emerge from each session fully relaxed and refreshed.
